  • The Strawberry Thief Pattern: Each mat reproduces Strawberry Thief, William Morris's pattern of thrushes slipping through dense foliage to steal ripe strawberries, set here on a warm red ground with cream, gold and sage detail. The design comes from the Morris & Co. archive and has stayed in production for generations.
  • A Setting For Four: The set covers four place settings, and at 15.8 by 11.7 inches a mat gives a dinner plate, side plate, glass and cutlery their own footprint without spilling over the edge. The rigid 5mm hardboard takes the weight of a loaded plate and will not warp or buckle in use.
  • Hot Dishes No Harm: The lacquered top is sealed to resist heat and stains, so a hot serving dish or plate can rest on it at up to 212°F (100°C) and red wine, gravy or sauce wipes away with a damp cloth. Keep the mats clear of the dishwasher and avoid leaving them to soak.
  • Cork Backed Protection: A hardwearing cork back cushions the table and keeps heat and scratches off polished wood and glass. The bold red and the busy bird-and-flower pattern bring warmth to a dining room or kitchen, and suit traditional, country and festive table settings through the year.
  • Pimpernel And Morris: Pimpernel introduced the rigid placemat in 1933 and now belongs to the Portmeirion Group of British tableware brands. It produces Strawberry Thief Red under licence from Morris & Co., putting a pattern from the William Morris archive onto a board built to be used every day.
