We recommend using the following procedure, but if you are using a commercial fixative, follow the instructions provided by the retailer.
- Before washing your fabric in small batches, make sure to wash colored fabrics separately to avoid any color transfer.
- Use cold water.
- Use a detergent that does not contain bleaching agents or harsh chemicals.
- For the first wash of the fabric, we suggest adding one cup of white vinegar and one cup of coarse salt to your detergent in your washing machine tub filled with water. The vinegar and coarse salt help set the dye and prevent the color from fading.
